The festival

Salsa is more than a dance

It is the heir to a history, a people and an exceptionally rich heritage. The FIC connects today's salsa with its three founding roots.

  1. Singer on stage under the spotlights
    01

    Son Cubano

Cuba's traditional popular music, widely regarded as the main ancestor of salsa.

  2. Rumba dancers accompanied by drums
    02

    Cuban Rumba

A major artistic expression of the Cuban people, inscribed by UNESCO on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

  3. Afro-Cuban dance in traditional blue costumes
    03

    Afro-Cuban traditions

Inherited from African cultures, they shaped the rhythms, movements and identity of Cuban dance.

Dance, heritage & transmission

Dance as a cultural language

Workshops, danced lectures and educational shows: every session combines dance, music and storytelling to place each practice in its historical context.

  • Folklore classes with live percussionists, just like in Cuba
  • More than 15 dance masters and 50 guest musicians
  • Columbia contest, Before Parties and DJ Battle

The founder's vision

“Not just to promote salsa, but to help pass on the culture that gave birth to it.”

Yoann Henry discovered salsa in 2009. His trips to Cuba turned a passion into a mission: the first events were born in 2011 and grew into the Festival International Cubano — today a true bridge between Cuba and Europe.
